Afro-German Ivie, whom her friends call Schoko, works in her ex-boyfriend’s tanning salon in Leipzig while she looks for steady employment as a high-school teacher. One day, her half-sister Naomie shows up from Berlin to tell her about their father’s death and his upcoming funeral in Senegal. Neither one of them knew him, nor did they know each other until now, and they both find it hard to imagine meeting his side of the family. As the sisters grow closer, her nickname is not the only thing that Ivie starts to question about her life.
