Jo Menell is a rare man whose life of exile and global activism has aligned with many of the key moments and figures of the last 60 years. He has been everywhere and has met and become friends with an amazing galaxy of artists and politicians at the epicentre of world events - from the war in Vietnam to Fidel Castro, from David Hockney to Nelson Mandela, from running television in Chile for Salvador Allende to activism in San Francisco. His exceptional capacity to be both storyteller and subject offers an unusual and brilliant perspective into the complexity and history of our times.

Today, finally back in his native South Africa, this film not only follows Jo as he makes sense of his life’s journey, but also offers a fascinating and radical way forward through his participatory citizen journalism.
