A woman and her young daughter, living in witness protection in a remote farmhouse find their lives in danger when the past catches up with them.

Grimmfest says: In some respects, this might almost be seen as a companion piece to last year's Grimmfest hit, FOR THE SAKE OF VICIOUS, in that it reunites Lora Burke with her co-stars in that film, Nick Smyth and Colin Paradine, for another visceral tale of home invasion and bloody revenge. But there the similarity ends. Whereas VICIOUS was a breakneck, no-holds barred study in bonecrunching violence and survival instinct turned feral, this is a more low-key, more slow-burning, psychologically focused film, which takes time setting up its characters and situation, constantly forcing the viewer to reassess and reconsider where sympathies should lie as the elegantly twisty plot carefully unfolds, actions grow ever more brutal, and motivations become increasingly, chillingly clear. Performances are uniformly strong, and Burke is, as ever, exceptional, as the young mother whose maternal instincts prove to be... pretty extreme, when tested. A malevolent masterclass in wrong-footing expectations, this is a tense, spare, smart and genuinely devious movie, with a killer punchline.
