Using simple animation techniques, “conch” is a hand-drawn, animated short featuring two figures- an armless individual settled in the snow and an elongated, nimble, insect-like creature that walks in circles around them. The film itself is an investigation of relating inorganic sounds to organic material such as the quiet hint of cranks of shafts in the creature’s limbs and the chime of bells as it reveals its face. Additionally, the animation is used as a metaphor of the development of amenorrhea and the mutual connection between body, cycle, and stillness.
