This Film is a Work in Progress.

Naked America is a documentary film in which I make a series of interviews, conversations and improvised interactions with American men, during which the male interviewees are fully naked. The project aims to research the status of contemporary American masculinity, but also touch upon universal themes such as loneliness, intimacy, and interpersonal relations in our current alienated society. The interview questions range from subjects such as sexuality, personal trauma and touch starvation to questions of nationality, white privilege and identity. The setup of the scene, a dark black studio, with (dramatic) lighting on the interviewee, emphasizing his naked body, embodies the vulnerable state of the interviewee. However, this vulnerability is exactly what permits building an intimate trusting connection between the interviewer and the interviewee.
