Based on true events, Image of Victory tells the story of Kibbutz Nitzanim, a desert community of idealistic Jewish youth from all over the world, whose fate is to attempt to hold the line against an onslaught by the Egyptian army during Israel’s War of Independence in 1948. On the other side of the line, embedded with the Egyptian troops, is a young Egyptian filmmaker with dreams of recording the humanity of the combatants, and the human costs of the conflict. But his dreams are at odds with his mission, to provide “images of victory” for King Farouk, whatever the reality. ”…the rare movie,” reviewed the Jerusalem Post, “that may change the way you look at the world.”
