On the 20th anniversary of DJ Screw's untimely passing on November 16th, 2000, the Houston Cinema Arts Festival celebrates the life and legacy of H-Town's own legendary DJ and producer DJ Screw. Best known as the creator of the "Chopped and Screwed" DJ technique, Screw was a central and influential figure in the Houston Hip Hop community and was the leader of Houston's Screwed Up Click. His 350 plus mixtapes continue to be sold at a brisk pace at Houston's Screwed Up Records and Tapes shop. The New York Times' pop music critic Jon Caramanica characterizes DJ Screw as "an underappreciated avant-gardist, creator of a sui generis sound that’s still growing and mutating."

This program includes select scenes from the scripted visual tribute All Screwed Up which is being released in November. All Screwed Up director Isaac Yowman will participate in the panel discussion along with producer Miriam Heads, and Houston rap legend and Houston Cinema Arts Society board member Bun B of UGK, with other speakers to be announced.
