The collaborative artistic team of Hillerbrand+Magsamen debut a new video, Shelter in Place, in conversation with the Covid19 pandemic and current political and social times, along with five other video art shorts that span the past decade with all its familial joys and discontents. Hillerbrand+Magsamen are the photographers and the photographed -- their home is the canvas, their actions are the content, and their family is the subject. They are interested in how their relationships are constantly changing as they grow older. They draw upon the Fluxus practice of incorporating humor, performance, video, and everyday objects to create a conversation around family dynamics, suburban life, and American consumer excess.

This program is made possible with funding from Humanities Texas and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the federal CARES Act.

Short for “estimated time of arrival”, ETA reveals a couple’s tension through the enclosed space of a car as rain and thunder dramatically pour down with an impending doom. The end reveals a constructed reality in a suburban environment that plays on ideas of film, theater and reality within a relationship.
