Originally from Westmeath, now based in Cork City, Claire J Loy is a stage, film and television actress. She is particularly interested in the portrayal of women who are for various reasons on the periphery of society, the outsiders. Known for her portrayal of determined and complex women often with an edge of defiance she has won several acting awards for her performance in In

Orbit. (Best Actress Disappear Here Film Festival, South Film and Arts Academy Festival)

Having trained to be an archaeologist Claire made the transition to the Arts when she realised that although interested in the study of artefacts and ancient history she was drawn more to the exploration of the inner lives of the human beings who made these artefacts and monuments.

2022 will see the release of her latest screen work, the feature film Crosshair in which she plays the female lead, the short Oisín (lead) and The Machine (a short starring Stephen Rea). She will also be appearing in the Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla. Claire leads the film Terrible Things which was screened at Galway Film Fleadh, L. A Shorts and at Telluride, Colorado.

Claire trained at Bow Street Academy Dublin, the Gaiety School of Acting and with the New Modern Realist practitioner and pioneer Tom Kibbe.

In her spare time, she enjoys photography, fashion history and reading true crime stories.
