I'm sure when you hear that these are "Isolation" short films, you will immediately think about the isolation at home during this pandemic. That is actually true for some of them--a couple were even filmed while on lockdown. That is not all of them, though. I was thinking of this theme long before we know what COVID-19 was. We have a short film block about relationships, and we have another one about family. This one is about the absence of either, and it is something that is personally quite terrifying to me. We also are asking a question with at least two of the short films (VR Food and Jeff Drives You): is it still isolation when one's company is a machine? See what you think!

A man explores a dark abyssal plane through a cage he wears on his head and discovers a godly being.

Director: Ernesto Roche was born and raised in Southeast LA, of Salvadoran and Mexican descent. Ernesto started writing short stories and screenplays around the age of 15. At age 17 he started experimenting with the medium, shooting various short form pieces. In 2019 he completed "The God from Below", a Lovecraftian proof of concept film. Recently he has finished production on another short "Forest in a Valley", soon to be completed late 2020-early 2021.
