I'm sure when you hear that these are "Isolation" short films, you will immediately think about the isolation at home during this pandemic. That is actually true for some of them--a couple were even filmed while on lockdown. That is not all of them, though. I was thinking of this theme long before we know what COVID-19 was. We have a short film block about relationships, and we have another one about family. This one is about the absence of either, and it is something that is personally quite terrifying to me. We also are asking a question with at least two of the short films (VR Food and Jeff Drives You): is it still isolation when one's company is a machine? See what you think!

Filmmaker and fellow film festival madman Justin McConnell put together one of the most entertaining and clever short films of the crop I have yet seen popping up that were filmed in isolation while in quarantine. Clever practical effects, some absolutely hilarious, leading to some truly amusing twists and turns make this a genuine treat! -Miguel
Director: Justin McConnell runs Toronto-based production/post company UNSTABLE GROUND, is the founder of the monthly horror short-film festival LITTLE TERRORS (which he co-presents with Rue Morgue Magazine), a Programmer for TORONTO AFTER DARK FILM FESTIVAL, and a distribution consultant. In addition, he is the acclaimed director/producer of multiple feature and short films, including ‘Lifechanger’, ‘Clapboard Jungle’, ‘Broken Mile’, 'The Collapsed', 'Skull World' and many more.
