Let's be real: you really can't have a complete horror program without the slasher, the killer, the villain, or people just plain behaving badly. This group of short films runs the gamut from hilarious hi-jinks to creeping terror to films that somehow provide both in equal measure. There is an age-old horror debate about creature feature scares versus more "realistic" human evil scares. It is a debate I care little for since both serve a purpose (though I will always admit to loving the monsters)!

'OverKill' is a film with a comedic take on a familiar setup: when too-woke-for-their-own-good college kids are terrorized by an unstoppable masked killer, the final girl must outsmart him to survive. Only in this movie, the killer literally cannot be stopped (or killed).

I also programmed this for the San Diego Latino Film Festival, and I was SO LOOKING FORWARD to sharing this outrageous slasher hi-jinks with that particular audience. Unfortunately, COVID made short work of it. As the description says, though, you can't keep this killer down for long, and it is time to rock it for Horrible Imaginings! -Miguel

"What else can I say about this instant classic? First half is a kids-against-a-slasher premise, followed by Bugs Bunny vs Jason. That's everything our species ever wanted in 15 minutes or less." -Sterling Anno

Director Alex Montilla - I've been making movies since high school. When my friends and I took over the morning announcements, we saw an opportunity to make short films for a captive audience...and by that, I mean an audience that literally HAD to watch; the entire school was held hostage by our silliness. Out of necessity, I learned the basics of filmmaking: acting, writing, directing, editing, visual effects, scoring...you name it; I was the Robert Rodriguez of morning announcements.
