Let's be real: you really can't have a complete horror program without the slasher, the killer, the villain, or people just plain behaving badly. This group of short films runs the gamut from hilarious hi-jinks to creeping terror to films that somehow provide both in equal measure. There is an age-old horror debate about creature feature scares versus more "realistic" human evil scares. It is a debate I care little for since both serve a purpose (though I will always admit to loving the monsters)!

A young woman awaits the return of her boyfriend at a secluded cabin only to discover that she may in fact not be alone.

The Barber Brothers sure know how to build some chills! This is the very definition of a spooky story to tell around a campfire! -Miguel

"The direction is solid, the camerawork and framing are both fluid and excellent. Mood and atmosphere are very Autumn-ish and Halloween, and the buildup is all well crafted!" -Programmer Jay Kay

Directors: Twin brothers Matthew and Nathaniel Barber are writers and directors best known for their short horror films Go Back (2019), Windigo Origins (2014), and Windigo Revolution (2015). The brothers received their Associates Degree in Screenwriting and Directing from the Colorado Film School in 2014. They continued their studies at the University of North Texas where Matthew graduated Magna Cum Laude and Nathaniel graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television and Film in 2016.

In 2019 the Barber Brother’s short Go Back was an Official Selection at Sitges Film Festival, Cinepocalypse Genre Film Festival and numerous other fests. Go Back went on to win Best International Short Film at STUFF MX Film Festival and the Audience Award Runner-Up for Best Short Film at Popcorn Frights. It was also nominated Best Horror Short of 2019 at the Spotlight Film Awards.
