Let's be real: you really can't have a complete horror program without the slasher, the killer, the villain, or people just plain behaving badly. This group of short films runs the gamut from hilarious hi-jinks to creeping terror to films that somehow provide both in equal measure. There is an age-old horror debate about creature feature scares versus more "realistic" human evil scares. It is a debate I care little for since both serve a purpose (though I will always admit to loving the monsters)!

Kerry is at a sleepover with the socially awkward, mysteriously orphaned heiress Katie. Friendship--in a society that grows ever isolating--is explored as Kerry learns the hard way that Katie always gets what she wants.

Director: Carlyn Hudson is a filmmaker originally from the great state of Texas, currently disappointing her family by calling Los Angeles home. Her latest short film, NICE ASS, premiered at SXSW and is now a Vimeo Staff Pick. She recently wrote and directed an 8-episode digital series called BOSS CHEER for Brat Studios, which has nearly 2 million views on the pilot alone and was picked up by Snapchat. Another series Carlyn directed, DISTANCE, a comedy about long distance relationships told from two perspectives, premiered at SXSW, won audience awards at NYTVF + Series Fest, was reviewed in the New York Times, and was nominated for the 2018 GOTHAM AWARDS for breakthrough short-form series. Paste Magazine described the series by saying, “There is the lovely, artful Distance...hinting at what modes of storytelling there may yet be untapped, even in this glut of Peak TV.”

Carlyn’s first feature as co-writer/director, THE BIG SPOON, starring Zach Knighton (Happy Endings, Magnum PI) and Isabelle McNally (Bates Motel) premiered at Austin Film Festival in 2016 and is distributed by Gravitas Ventures. Her next feature, KATELYN VS, a sharp YA comedy about sex ed, is in development at a place she can’t-name-just-yet.
