When it comes right down to it, for my own personal tastes, monsters rule the roost. Monsters are the source of my love for the genre, they are the characters I most immediately empathize with, and they always will have a segment in my festival. Beyond that, though, monsters serve one of the greatest purposes in horror storytelling: they serve to explain the unknown, give face to our fear, and find some order in chaos. More than that, since monsters are not real (sorry), they are so well suited to metaphor and interpretation, a key characteristic that lends a layer of depth that one can take or leave. Here there be monsters!!!!

An angel finds herself in an empty black abyss, forced to gamble her life with the purest form of evil.

The sound design was gorgeous and definitely had that ASMR thing down. The acting was good and it was well structured. All-in-all it was unique and creepy! -Ashlea Wessel

Director: Costantino Ciminiello graduated from Disney's 'CalArts' in 2015 and has been experimenting with the horror genre almost exclusively in that time. Through his proficient technical background and creative approach to filmmaking, Costantino's work is meant to be an exploration of the unknown.

Director: Mitchell V. Slan with Halloween in his heart and a BFA from Texas State University, Mitchell has won many awards in directing and screenwriting for the Horror genre. However, it's his performance background that brings a fresh approach to the actors in his films. His previous award-winning short film, “Balloon” earned him his first feature film, "Black Eyed Kids."
