Bio of Jameelah Rose Del Prado Founder of the Khatak Film Society


Jameelah Rose del Prado Lineses, a New York-based Filipino award-winning female filmmaker who was born and raised in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who have been recognized and published in multiple media outlets in Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and the United States. She is also a presidential awardee of the Ani Ng Dangal (Harvest of Honors) for CINEMA from the National Commission for Culture and Arts in the Philippines in 2014. Jameelah completed her studies in filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and graduated with the highest honors, with her studies sponsored by Princess Hala bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, one of the daughters of the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.


She is also recognized and supported by the two unions: Director’s Guild of America, Inc. (DGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers (AMPTP) as a Foreign Film Director in the United States as well as a member of the prestigious New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT).


She has made 4 films promoting Saudi Arabia's culture and national heritage in which all films have won awards and garnered recognitions namely: Historic Jeddah, Our Journey to Hijaz, The Lifestyles of Expats in Jeddah, and Atareek - which won Best Cinematography at the International Film Festival Manhattan 2018.


Jameelah is also the founder of Khatak Film Society, a New York-based pioneering organization dedicated to showcasing the works of new wave Tibetan filmmakers as well as other regions of the Himalayas to a global audience. A first of its kind initiative launching at the 10th International Film Festival Manhattan 2020 this November in New York where it has the largest Tibetan population not only in all fifty states of America and the western world but also outside of Tibet, India and Nepal.


It is a Tibetan custom and other regions of the Himalayas where Khatak, a greeting or prayer scarf is being offered to family/relatives, friends and guests. Khatak symbolizes purity and compassion. It’s main color is white, when offered it shows the pure heart of the giver. It can also be found in different colors that composes of the 5 elements including white such as blue, red, green and yellow-gold. In good times and bad times in life, Khatak is being offered.


The Himalayas is more than just the mountains. Through Khatak Film Society, the audience will see a different side of the Himalayas, a much more vibrant and visually enticing culture and heritage that you have never seen before.
