La première saison de ce drame se déroulant à Amsterdam ayant fait fureur au festival, l’an dernier, il serait justifié d’être anxieux·euse quant aux nouveaux épisodes. Mais ne vous en faites pas, les dialogues savoureusement naturels de ce feuilleton à la L Word sont de retour et nous font découvrir de nouveaux personnages dans la vingtaine tous aussi différents (de corps, de sensibilité et de sexualité) que attachants, explorant avec perspicacité des sujets on ne peut plus contemporains comme la possibilité de s’épanouir au travail dans un monde capitaliste et le processus à la fois douloureux (physiquement) et (mentalement) bienfaisant de la transition de genre. Notre guide est encore une fois l’égocentrique, mais si intéressante Anne (Hanna van Vliet) qui croule sous les dettes et envie le succès des autres, mais conserve sa perspective romantique et ses mots d’esprit toujours bien placés, ce qui l’aidera à gérer l’arrivée bouleversante d’une ancienne amante. Soutenues par leurs relations inextricables, les âmes exploratrices d'Anne+ relèvent des défis modernes tout en partageant de nombreuses bières et… quelques lits, çà et là.
With Season One of this Amsterdam-set drama a festival favorite last year, one would be justified in feeling anxious over whether or not the new crop of episodes can deliver the same winning blend of naturalistic dialogue and L-Word-like soapiness. Not to worry. Season Two achieves this and so much more, expanding the cast of regulars with a diverse group of twenty-somethings of all different sizes, sensibilities, and sexualities, and incisively exploring an array of contemporary topics, such as career fulfillment in late-stage capitalism and the physically painful (yet mentally blissful) process of transitioning. Our guide, as before, is the self-absorbed but oh-so-appealing Anne (Hanna van Vliet), who finds herself drowning in bills and jealousy over others’ success, though she hasn’t lost her romantic point of view and endless supply of clever quips. She’ll certainly need them when a former love steps back into the picture to stir things up. Supported by the bonds of their tangled alliances, the searching souls of Anne+ tackle the challenges of our current era, sharing a lot of beers and beds along the way.
