En s’inscrivant à l’école, Valentina apprend qu’elle est la première étudiante à souhaiter utiliser son nom usuel et un détail technique la motivera à rechercher son père absent. Dans sa quête, elle rencontrera une hacker enceinte, discutera des histoires secrètes des hommes torses nus avec Júlio, un camarade de classe ouvertement gai, mais qui n’a encore jamais embrassé personne (interprété par le charmant Ronaldo Bonafro) et prendra part à un conflit intense et polarisant provoqué par une agression anonyme. A shocking moment of violence in a club is the coda to her time in the city, after which she moves to the country municipality of Estrela do Sul with her unceasingly supportive mother, Márcia (Brazilian TV actress Guta Stresser). Attempting to enroll in the local school, Valentina finds she is the first student in the school’s history to request acknowledgment of her social name and a legal technicality has her desperately searching for her long-absent father. In her search, she will befriend a pregnant hacker; dish about the secret sexual histories of shirtless guys with her openly gay but never been kissed classmate, Júlio (an adorable Ronaldo Bonafro); and become involved in an intense, escalating clash in the aftermath of an anonymous assault. Beautiful bonds and trenchant bigotries form the stirring core of this coming-of-age drama, Valentina and Júlio endeavouring to occupy the space their society denies them and exert their own intrinsic worth.
