1001cuts explores the careers of women who benefited from the educational opportunities granted by the landmark Title IX legislation, passed in 1972, which banned gender discrimination in higher education. 


Since 2003, half of medical students in the United States have been women, yet women have been slow to enter surgical fields. The film examines how leadership and culture in surgery remain disproportionately male, and how pervasive stereotypes allow gender-based discrimination to persist.
