In the mountains of Patagonia, a young female puma called Petaca is facing independence. Her comfortable family life is about to end. Moonlight cameras allow us for the first time to follow the pumas into their nighttime world and share the pivotal moments in Petaca’s life. When the time comes for her mother to leave and start a new family, Petaca is forced to fend for herself. She uses the darkness to stalk prey but learns the hard way that becoming a successful adult isn’t easy. As winter arrives, things get even tougher. She is ousted from her home by a large, older female. But forced to roam the mountains at night, she must take risks to get a much-needed meal and discovers an opportunity to meet other cats that finally accept her. Having found her new home in the mountains, the time has come to have cubs of her own.
