Celebrated Israeli director Avi Nesher’s newest film is an ambitious epic that revisits Israel’s 1948 War of Independence. Nominated for 15 Ophir Awards (Israeli Academy Awards), including Best Film, Image of Victory tells the story leading up to the Battle of Nitzanim, a doomed firefight with the Egyptian army which pitted the inhabitants of a southern seaside kibbutz against the overpowering forces of the Egyptians. Focusing on two historical figures, a filmmaker from Cairo and a headstrong kibbutznik radio operator, the film tells the story from both sides of the conflict. This anti-war story shot between Covid shutdowns is beautifully envisioned with stunning visuals and stirring performances.

Official Selection: Haifa, Atlanta Jewish film festivals
Winner: Best Cinematography, Best Makeup–Ophir Awards
