Sami, a middle-class Palestinian businessman living in Jerusalem, reluctantly returns to his small Arab village for a family wedding with his wife and young son in tow. Tempers flare quickly between family members and old friends as Sami’s condescension, however mild, offends. Wanting nothing more than to return home to work and his mistress, the Israeli army has other plans locking down the village in search of illegal West Bank Palestinians living there. Directed by Eran Kolirin (The Band’s Visit) and based on Palestinian author-journalist Sayed Kashua’s novel, Let It Be Morning is often humorous, and a gentle but pointed satire that swept the 2021 Ophir Awards (Israeli Academy Awards).

Official Selection: Cannes, Other Israel film festivals

Winner: 7 Ophir Awards including Best Film

“The comedy that results is wry and thoughtfully observed, with its feet planted almost obstinately on the ground.” –Guy Lodge, Variety
