Academy Award-nominee Harvey Keitel, Israeli legend Lior Ashkenazi (Foxtrot, Walk on Water), and Shira Haas (Unorthodox, Asia) star in this period epic from Cannes-winning filmmaker Pavel Lungin (Taxi Blues).

Based on Meir Shalev’s acclaimed book—and drawing on elements of the biblical tale of Jacob and Esau—the film centers on a 40-year-old writer who returns home to Israel to confront a twin brother who inherited the family bakery and married the woman they both loved. The emotional and sweeping tale spans generations and is set against a nation undergoing seismic changes: from British-ruled Palestine to the Israeli of the 1970s.
