Guitar maestro Vladimir Fridman moves flawlessly between classical, jazz, traditional forms, pulling on repertoire from a dizzying array of cultures, with improvisational spirit, soul and true virtuosity.

There is nothing ordinary about Vladimir Fridman and his music. He was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, with music a major part of his life. Turning his back on a promising career as a civil engineer, Vladimir decided to pursue his real passion – guitar.

As an active member of the eccentric show group Jazz Balalaika (1988 -1998), Vladimir toured Europe, the Middle East, and Japan and released four albums. Since his arrival in the United States, he has been earning accolades as a solo artist, as well as a member of the “Music Pilgrim Trio,” preforming instrumental, Klezmer, Yiddish, Russian and American songs.

Vladimir’s interpretations of traditional Jewish songs in Yiddish and Russian are based on reminiscences from his childhood, and his original works span meditative Prayer, celebrative Hasidic Rock and waltz – all infused with a Jewish spirit, and representing a new wave of Jewish music.

Your Pay-What-You-Choose ticket includes access to an artist conversation with Vladimir Fridman, led by Seth Kibel, which will automatically play at the end of the concert.
