Adapted from August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM celebrates the artistry and transformative power of the blues and the artists who refused to let prejudices dictate their worth. Academy Award-winner Viola Davis portrays “Mother of Blues,” Ma Rainey. The cast also stars Chadwick Boseman (in his final film appearance), with Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo and Michael Potts in supporting roles. The film is produced by Denzel Washington and Todd Black, adapted for the screen by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and directed by Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe.
