Rapper Cheetah stars in this comedic romp through Seoul’s famous international neighborhood Itaewon. She plays Sun-deok, an aspiring jazz singer. One day her mother (Jo Min-soo, in a motormouth tour-de-force of a performance), who she hasn’t seen in years, shows up at her apartment looking for Sun-deok’s sister Yuri, who has disappeared with their savings. Their frantic search takes them through a cross section of Itaewon’s eccentric and diverse population, from a gay couple who runs a tattoo parlor, to a Black delivery driver (Terris Brown), to a tourist/parkour specialist, to a transgender performer, all of whom provide help along the way. This big-hearted, inclusive movie shows how international influences such as hip –hopculture and the art of drag have started to shape contemporary Korean life.
