May 6 marks the anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, a law passed by Congress and signed by President Chester Arthur on May 6, 1882. Examine the origin, history and impact of the law that made it illegal for Chinese workers to come to America and for Chinese nationals already here ever to become U.S. citizens. The first in a long line of acts targeting the Chinese for exclusion, it remained in force for more than 60 years. The documentary made its Los Angeles premiere at the 2018 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
