LOGLINE: A friend in need is a friend indeed - or are they? Two best childhood friends go to their first summer camp together - and it tears them apart.

SYNOPSIS: A nerdy and anxious 'tween feels wonky about craft camp. Her classes are not the ones she chose, her tummy aches and her best friend dumps her. Then Kismet and new friends open up new possibilities for her which helps her accept the inevitable changes in her life, and most of all, to accept herself.

Very similar in theme to the recently released Disney/Pixar film, 'Turning Red' in which awkward nerdy females experience puberty and test the bonds of friendship, 'Blood Buddies' feels like a female version of 'Stand by Me' crossed with 'Mean Girls'. Enigmatic pre-teens who navigate the liminal space between nice and nasty, struggle to work through their transition into womanhood. It's alive to adolescent obnoxiousness but also their capacity for empathy. This film is a sensitive, dramatic story about self-esteem and relationships - with touches of comic relief. It explores gender-based expectations to ‘fit the norm’, and encourages celebration and belonging during an emotionally challenging moment of puberty.
