LA VOZ DEL SOL/SPEAK SUNLIGHT is based on a memoir, and memories I have of the author who was a dear friend. The author is no longer with us, so I took on the challenge to bring his story to the world and honor his memory and spirit. Coming of age can come at any time in one’s life, and our unlikely trio form an indelible bond on a summer visit to Franco's Spain in the 1960s: Almodovar star Carmen Machi in a breathtaking performance as a woman with a secret past, Goya Award winner Karra Elejalde as an anti-fascist warrior suffering survivor's guilt, and newcomer Matteo Artuñedo, (15) who experiences the joy and heartbreak of love in an era of stifling oppression, all set within the backdrop of Pamplona during the running of the bulls.
