Three Afghan women from different social backgrounds are facing the biggest challenges of their lives. Hava, a pregnant woman who is ignored and abused by her traditionally minded family, can only find peace by talking to the baby in her womb. Maryam, an educated TV news reporter, is about to get a divorce from her unfaithful husband but finds out she is pregnant. Ayesha, an eighteen-year-old girl, accepts a marriage proposal from her cousin, as she is pregnant by a boyfriend who disappeared after hearing the news. While each story is told separately, the women are united in a final scene that is a silent yet powerful statement about the fate and resilience of women in Afghan society. Director Sahraa Karimi was, until the fall of Kabul earlier this year, the head of Afghan Film.
