At this year’s Local Sightings Film Festival, Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound (MIPoPS) will present their first in-person archival screening since February 2020.

Working with materials from Seattle Municipal Archives, they came across a piece of Seattle film history: videotape records of the Seattle City Council Film Forum, an initiative spearheaded by Nick Licata to share the work of Seattle-area filmmakers with the Housing, Human Services, Health and Culture Committee. SCC Film Forum presentations were curated by former NWFF Program Director Adam Sekuler. MIPoPS’s screening will highlight content from these presentations, the Seattle Channel’s Seattle Cine-visions series, and a grab-bag of additional local film ephemera from other institutions – including, of course, Northwest Film Forum’s own vault.

Walk down recent-memory lane with MIPoPS archivists at this in-person celebration of local filmmakers and Pacific Northwest creativity!
