Ignite British Animation!

Animation is one of the most popular mediums amongst Children, some of the most popular brands for kids and young adults of all ages globally are animated shows. However many of these shows are not representative of the UK , or even made here. We have some of the best creative talent in terms of story-telling and writing children’s programmes but the animation industry in the UK is still far behind countries like France, Canada and the US in delivering home grown animation from local broadcasters. The BBC is helping to change this, with a first of its kind scheme launched this summer. Ignite aims to give the UK animation sector and talent a route to bring new ideas to life, developing new characters and telling home grown stories through animation.

Join Patricia Hidalgo – the new Director of BBC Children’s and Education as she talks about what excites her about our animation talent and how the BBC aims to support the industry in the future.

Patricia Hidalgo is Director of Children’s & Education at the BBC. She is responsible for developing and implementing creative and editorial strategies for BBC Children’s and BBC Education services across all platforms including BBC’s iPlayer, CBeebies and CBBC, with a focus on the strategic future direction of media consumption and business models, overseeing all the division’s content output including in-house productions, co-productions and acquisitions.

Patricia has a strong industry track record and is behind some of the most successful shows in kids’ TV.
