Ethereally narrated through dream pop, Drue de Milo falls in and out of poetry, singing blissfully of an ocean-drenched Bonnie and Clyde, and eventually giving way to a fresh perspective on the oldest story: creation.
Featuring both de Milo herself and WSL surfer Leif Engstrom, the short film takes us in the water to include both an up-close perspective and bird’s eye view of the pair’s intimate journey.
Engstrom acts the sea incarnate: unpredictable and merciless. de Milo embodies the earth: uncharted and irresistible.
Evoking the glamour of Herb Ritts, mixed with a little Tarantino-esque drama, Drowning in Paradise personifies the invincible nature of love, as we see the pair not only as their supernatural personas, but also as their real selves, drowning in each other.
“...anyway, that’s how beaches are formed.”
