Time and time again Beirut faces loss, tragedy and upheavals. People contend with the intensity of tragic events while artists find ways to resist, remember and reclaim.

Renowned Lebanese artists and filmmakers Lamia Joreige, Joana Hadjithomas, Walid Sadek, Ghassan Salhab and Canadian artist of Lebanese descent, Jayce Salloum speak to the Lebanese War, loss and tragedy.

In this panel discussion, curated as a casual conversation, these arists unpack how they represented war, its aftermaths, and the ongoing Lebanese condition. They share with us how they relate to Beirut and its ever-changing landscape while reflecting on their roles as artists in representing this problematic local history to the world.
