Insulin to Innovation is a product of a consortium of charitable organizations with a connection to insulin and Canadian scientific research. We have come together to celebrate the discovery of insulin and explore the many ongoing efforts across Canada to improve the lives of those living with or affected by diabetes.
ABOUT THE FILM:
Burlington native and Tampa Bay Lightning signee Cory Conacher may have racked up an impressive list of hockey achievements, but a relentless series of life defining health complications and confidence shattering setbacks prove that his athletic achievements are a miracle of his own making.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
The award-winning filmmaker Calvin Hudson Hwang was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Following a “practical” career in advertising, Hwang transitioned to behind-the-camera after studying filmmaking in Los Angeles. Hwang created the multiple award-winning health education platform Real LIFE STORIES for Johnson and Johnson, where it received unanimous praise for the intimate, authentic and inspirational portrayal of people living with health conditions. Hwang founded the education company SUPRE in 2018 applying his unique combination of talents to continue producing educational documentaries for the benefit of the health-impacted community.
