Dawid (Devi) Tuszyński was a Jewish painter and master of miniatures, a painting style that remained faithful to the tradition of Jewish religious ornamental art. Devi, Prince of the Miniature unveils the little-known story behind this magnificent Jewish artist, whose work was influenced by the tragedies of the Second World War, his yearning to connect with Israel, and his deep desire to call it home. Devi’s unique miniature artwork earned him recognition in the artistic world, as did his one-of-a-kind portraits, like his famous painting of Charlie Chaplin. However, his most iconic work, and the one that has been exhibited the world over including in Israel, is the great series of miniatures he created for The Psalms of David, which he worked on for more than 20 years.
