This bittersweet comedy navigates the precarious terrain of middle age, where home, love, and work—the three pillars of a well-balanced life—can all collapse at once. The story follows Toronto novelist Joel (Jonas Chernick, The End of Sex), a sensitive, self-deprecating man whose marriage has ended, his career has stalled, and his bachelor pad reflects the chaos of his personal life. As Joel navigates fleeting romances, the well-meaning but sometimes awkward attentions of friends, and the blunt wisdom of his scene-stealing mother (Mimi Kuzyk, Hill Street Blues), he is forced to confront the uncomfortable question: can the literary insight that fuels his novels also save his own life? With sharp humor, tender performances, and a keen eye for the ironies of adulthood, Negative Capability is both a hilarious and moving exploration of renewal, desire, and the art of living.
