For the first time in eight decades, They Fight with Cameras reveals the remarkable story of U.S. Army Signal Corps combat cameraman Walter Rosenblum and the fellow soldiers who risked their lives to document World War II. Narrated by Liev Schreiber and drawing on rarely seen photographs, archival footage, and a newly unearthed cache of 180 personal letters, the film offers an intimate portrait of a Jewish soldier who recorded the war’s defining moments—from the D-Day landings on Omaha Beach and the capture of key French cities, to the brutal winter battles in Alsace and the searing first images of Dachau’s liberation.

One of the most decorated cameramen of WWII, Rosenblum captured some of the conflict’s most iconic images with exceptional skill, empathy, and unflinching courage. His words and images—long buried in archives—bring the European front to life in striking detail, while underscoring the indispensable role combat cameramen played in preserving history’s most consequential events.

More than a gripping account of battlefield bravery, They Fight with Cameras is a powerful tribute to those who “fought with cameras” to ensure the world would bear witness to the horrors of war—and a poignant reminder of Rosenblum’s enduring plea for peace.
