Saodat Ismailova’s Monographs video essay, Her Five Lives, traces the evolution of female characters in Uzbek cinema. The Haunted looks at a completely different aspect of Central Asian history: an imaginary encounter with the Turkestan Tiger, which was driven to extinction during the colonization of Central Asia. Today, the tiger keeps on living as a sacred archetype in the collective memory and dreams of local people.
