Celeste, a quick-thinking, yet sometimes naive Latina teenager, discovers herself as a person of color. Furthermore, the meaning of walking with fear after an all-too-common altercation with a white man, John. Goofing off with friends, Celeste accidentally falls onto John’s lawn, upsetting him. Because of his irrational reaction and becoming verbally abusive, the teenagers try to defend themselves until John takes out his gun and fires it, claiming self-defense. What the teenagers discover afterward about John, leaves them paralyzed and helpless.
