In 2026, humanity is trapped between two grim choices: digitization or suffering on Earth. The story follows The Alchemist, a scatterbrained scientist who, before losing his memory, created "MaestroVille," a virtual safe haven designed to guide him back to the truth. Once an innovative scientist for Waveband Inc.—a monopolistic corporation controlling fashion, pharmaceuticals, crops, and water—the Alchemist sought to develop renewable energy by transforming clothes through osmosis. However, his altruistic efforts were corrupted by Waveband, which weaponized his research to create an atomic energy device capable of digitizing matter.
In 2020, Waveband caused global devastation through chemical pollution, leading to water and food apartheid. Their ultimatum forced humanity to either sell themselves to the digital world or endure physical suffering, including memory-wiping comas. Devastated by the misuse of his work, the Alchemist chose self-induced amnesia through Waveband’s "Maestro pills." He woke up in MaestroVille, a liminal space between reality and fiction, plagued by polluted air, toxic fashion remnants, and spoiled crops.
As he tries to adapt, flashes of his past resurface, revealing his role in the planet’s downfall. Consumed by guilt and despair, he faces himself and in his final act he merges his identities and uses time, energy, and water to propel his experiment forward.
