The United Nations declared 2019 to be the International Year of Indigenous Languages, and the Mother Tongue Film Festival was honored to be a part of this worldwide endeavor. The fourth festival featured sixty films and audiovisual experiences from twenty-two regions in sixty-six languages, doubling the number of languages from previous years.&nbsp;The festival honored language revival around the world by investigating the relationship between language vitality and personal and communal well-being through a carefully curated collection of films.&nbsp;Enjoy these two amazing films: Blackbird and Sgaawaay K’uuna (Edge of the Knife).&nbsp; Las Naciones Unidas declararon 2019 como el Año Internacional de las Lenguas Indígenas y el Festival de Cine de la Lengua Materna tuvo el honor de ser parte de este esfuerzo mundial.&nbsp;En comparación con años anteriores, el cuarto festival contó con 60 películas y experiencias audiovisuales de 22 territorios en 66 lenguas, aumentando al doble el número de lenguas representadas. Kidnapped from their home in the Solomon Islands, siblings Rosa and Kiko struggle to survive as they are forced to work on a sugarcane plantation in Queensland, Australia, in the late 1800s. In their new surroundings, Rosa works to ensure her younger brother Kiko follows the new rules that govern their lives. The result of community collaboration, this short film is a moving portrait of survival during a time of oppression and culture loss for the Pacific Islanders caught up in the blackbirding trade of the nineteenth century.&nbsp; Secuestrados de su hogar en las Islas Salomón, los hermanos Rosa y Kiko luchan por sobrevivir mientras se ven obligados a trabajar en una plantación de caña de azúcar en Queensland, Australia, a fines del siglo XIX.
