There was a parallel movement of Pan Africanists, Black nationalists, and followers of Islamic thought - the UNIA, the Moorish Science Temple, the Nation of Islam; Garvey, Noble Drew Ali, Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X. In his final years, Malcolm X - was at the beginning of a far wider sphere of influence – with his outreach to African and world leaders on behalf of human rights for African Americans.
