Welcome to the Environmental screening!

On September 15, 2019, air quality levels in Palangkaraya Indonesia reached 2000 AQI - 7x higher than what is considered “hazardous” for human health. This is turning into a common occurrence for people in many areas of Indonesia. Almost every year, a toxic haze blankets the southeast Asia region, which is caused by large scale peatland fires. But what causes these fires? “In Your Palm” is a documentary film which explores the relationship between the annual toxic haze and an ingredient that we unknowingly consume each day: palm oil. In a powerful combination of true human stories and striking visuals, “In Your Palm” exposes the harsh realities for humans living next to large scale palm oil plantations and courageous young activists that risk their lives to prevent corporations from inflicting further damage on the environment and their home.
