Nominated for 2021 shawash-iliʔi Award for Best Native American Film

"Becoming: ORLANDO DUGI" explores the connection of Orlando's contemporary designs with his traditional Navajo upbringing, the honoring of Native women, especially his grandmothers. It challenges the notion that Native art must be fixed in time, and shows how weaving the past into the present can be a powerful form of cultural expression. Filmed over 3 months, the documentary captures Orlando's process of creating his 2020 Capsule Collection in intricate and vibrant detail, and includes deeply personal reflections on his experience as an Indigenous artist. It culminates with the reveal of his finished designs at Santa Fe Indian Market's Virtual Fashion Show.
