When New York-based dancer Lu (Nondumiso Tembe, TRUE BLOOD) brings her American fiancée Tex (Darrin Dewitt Henson, SOUL FOOD) home to South Africa to meet her family, she discovers she's of royal heritage and has been promised in marriage, from birth, to a Zulu prince in order to repay an ancestral debt. Forced to confront the tradition she's been running away from since the death of her parents when she was just 15 years old, Lu decides to face the prince and convince him he doesn't want to marry her. But when she enlists the help of a handsome royal advisor to get into her into the prince's royal compound, he proves to be a dangerously seductive charmer. Caught between two men, two families and two countries, Lu must come to terms with who she is so she can fight for what she wants. (Note adapted from Luju Inc.) Winner, Ja'Net First Feature Narrative Award, 2020 Pan African Film Festival.
