Nevermore Jury Award Nominee - Best Actor - Sunny Wang ("Jie")

In the tradition of Blood Vessel, Leviathan and Deep Blue Sea, here comes a monstrously exciting horror movie set on the water.  Five years ago, an act of recklessness by coastguard Jie (Sunny Wang) caused the death of his boss in a rescue operation. Now shunned by the community of his port town and having to take care of his daughter alone following the death of his wife, he has to beg his resentful father-in-law Han (Andrew Lin) for a job on his fishing boat. The grieving father reluctantly accepts, but most of the crew are hostile to Jie’s presence aboard, all the more so as, unbeknownst to the captain, they’re using this fishing expedition as an opportunity for drug smuggling. There’s also fear of bad luck when a mysterious castaway (Alice Ko) is found in the middle of the sea. Their anxiety only grows worse when a terrifying creature gets caught in their net and escapes aboard the ship.  As the ship barrels into a typhoon, Jei and the frightened men must do battle with a growing army of vicious, giant sea spiders whose bite is as infectious as it is deadly.   Filled with terrifying special effects and heart-pounding action, Abyssal Spider is a must-see for fans of aquatic terror!

In Chinese with English subtitles.

BONUS CONTENT: After the movie, see three short featurettes about the making of, photography, and behind-the-scenes of Abyssal Spider. These featurettes do not have English subtitles.
