
In this movie, dante find himself in the middle of a political entanglement and of the love story between Segna de’ Calligai and Coronella, a nun who was kidnapped from the monastery. Her kidnapping triggers a series of reactions by both Guelfi and Ghibellini factions. After Dante’s death in Ravenna, where he moved to prevent a war with the Venetians, his son will discover, thanks to a night dream, the last part of the Divine Comedy, which went lost.
Domenico Gaito (Isola D’Elba). He moved to Florence in 1898 in order to work for the magazine Corriere Italiano. Among his many collaborations as writer we find the monthly publication La Lettura and the weekly magazine Il Corriere dei Piccoli. At the beginning of the new century he wrote an historical-dramatical trilogy, I Ciompi, followed by other historical books, and also literature for kids and Opera texts. In 1919 he founded, together with Giovanni Montalbano and Mario Volpe, the Montalbano Film, which creates in the neighborhood of Rifredi in Florence a hub for cinema production, which will be active until 1930. Domenico continues then to write screenplays, among which the movie Dante nella vita e nei tempi suoi, realized for the 600 Anniversaru of the Poet’s death.
