On picture day, a young girl navigates through the racist microagressions of her school when she arrives with her hair in an afro. This film won the 2020 Canadian Screen Award for best Short Drama, and with its stylish examintion of inequity and visibility, it's easy to see why.

FROM THE NICKEL VAULT: This early short film from Closet Monster's Stephen Dunn, a young girl has her first period on the eve of her 13th birthday. As she deals with the angst of heading into puberty, she must also deal with her eccentric grandfather (played by the one and only Gordon Pinsent) and his pet pug.
