Join us TONIGHT for our Closing Night & Cocktails with Nashville's own Cocktail Crafting! In the pre-roll before the film bartender Reed Sandridge will walk you through the steps of making a French 75.

Here's what you'll need to mix along:

This drink can be made with either cognac or gin. Both are delicious. Double the ingredients to make two cocktails.

1.5 oz Cognac or Gin

.75 oz Fresh lemon juice

.75 oz Simple syrup

2-3 oz Champagne or sparkling white wine

Lemon peel and fresh rosemary (optional) for garnish

Step 1: If you already have simple syrup on hand, then skip to step 2, otherwise mix equal parts of sugar and hot water until mixed. I usually heat the mixture on the stove (hot but not boiling) and make about a 1/2 or cup and keep the leftover in the fridge for other uses. You can also use very hot tap water and mix vigorously with a spoon until the mixture is mostly dissolved.

Once sugar is dissolved, let cool.

Step 2: Combine cognac or gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker. Add a scoop or two of ice and shake for 15-20 seconds

(the shaker should feel cold).

Step 3: Strain into a Champagne flute.

Step 4: Top with 2-3 oz of Champagne or sparkling white wine.

Step 5: Garnish with a lemon twist and optional sprig of rosemary

DIRECTOR'S CHOICE WINNER FILM

A Jewish family in Germany emigrate short before the Second World War. They move to Kenya to start running a farm, but not all members of the family come to an arrangement with their new life. Shortly after their departure, things are changing in Germany very quickly, and a turning back seems impossible. So everyone has to arrange himself with the new life in a new continent.

A love story spanning two continents, Nowhere in Africa is the extraordinary true tale of a Jewish family who flees the Nazi regime in 1938 for a remote farm in Kenya. Abandoning their once-comfortable existence in Germany, Walter Redlich, his wife Jettel (Juliane Köhler, of Aimee and Jaguar) and their five-year-old daughter Regina each deal with the harsh realities of their new life in different ways. Attorney Walter is resigned to working the farm as a caretaker; pampered Jettel resists adjustment at every turn; while the shy yet curious Regina immediately embraces the country learning the local language and customs, and finding a friend in Owuor, the farm s cook. As the war rages on the other side of the world, the trio s relationships to their strange environment become increasingly complicated as Jettel grows more self-assured and Walter more haunted by the life they left behind. As they eventually learn to cherish their life in Africa, they also endeavor to find a way back to each other. Winner of the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, as well as five German Film Awards (Golden Lolas), including Best Film, Director, and Cinematography, Nowhere In Africa is based on the best-selling autobiographical novel by Stefanie Zweig.
